Copley Square Park Capital Project Plan and Implementation

In November the Boston Parks Department convened the initial public meeting for the Capital Project. Parks established a steering committee, composed of members of key community groups. Meetings are held by Zoom and are open to the public. Abigail Chatfield is the Project Manager abigail.chatfield@boston.gov. The architects are Sasaki Assoc.

Also known as “Art Square,” Copley is flanked by historically and culturally significant buildings. Copley Square hosts:

  • Boston’s First Night festival
  • Boston Marathon
  • weekly farmers markets, and
  • numerous other events.

The park has a fountain and stage, a plaza, gardens, and lawn areas. There are also a number of memorials located throughout the square, as well as passive seating areas.
